Best oil for angle grinder?

Hi all,

Naive question again - what oil should I use to lubricate electric grinders?

Grease, I clean mine out completely, then use a EP2 type grease, or lithium based grease, about a third full, and never had a problem..

I slap into mine a bearing grease.
Done me no harm. Or the grinders.

If for some reason you have cleaned it all out I would use something with molybdenum disulphide in.

doesn't take much cleaning out, everyone I've opened up, there's been very little in it, basically next to none..., that's why I got into the habit of popping them open, quick wipe out, then regrease... you can generally hear the difference straight away... I like EP2 as a general grease as i have it on hand for high speed bearings, so it's ideal (total overkill really) for a small grinder gearbox.

Thé motor runs in 2 ball bearings which should be shielded but might be a combination of this and unshielded. Either way run it till it sounds ropey then replace the bearings.

I just put some Castrol LM grease in mine if I ever take them apart, just a blob on the gears.
