Best of the cheaper ARC inverters.

Looking to buy a box around 160 amp. Firstly, will that be enough to give me a power step up on my Oxford 110 amp oil cooled?
So no big boy stuff at £400 quid plus. Maybe Rtec Parweld etc. Are Jasic better than those? Not much else really?

+1 for Jasic, I’ve got their smaller one, 140 amp I think it is. Welds nicely seems well made & the 5 year guarantee sold it to me.

It may or may not be important to you, but many machines of that class have lift TIG facility. The GYS one above does not have that facility.

Rapid welding offer Lincoln Bester and Esab Rogue as alternatives to the brands (RTec, Parweld, Jasic) already suggested. Paton (Welding Supplies Direct) is another option.

Remember that 160 Chinese amps will be very similar to your 110 British ones!

I hate to say it but the Parkside inverter welder is actually pretty good with a decent warranty. Almost small enough to fit in your hand and does a scarily convincing 180A with lift start, anti stick etc and of course claims DC TIG although I haven't tried that, as I have another machine for AC/DC TIG. They come up for sale for about £150 every so often in LIDL if you aren't in a rush and aren't a professional.

My only welder remains a lidl arc and a lidl flux core

I have had them around 2 years. I still suck but it has been a cheap foray into welding. I have learnt a lot about different rods how to strike and maintain a decent arc and with the fluxcore how to feed wire and consumables as well as lance control

Most of all as I now look to upgrade soon I actually understand what I want in a welder and what I need

So yay my long with of saying I agree with starting cheap
