Hello all I'm new to welding and looking to buy my first mig welder . Any suggestions on what would be best starter machine many thanks Dan
You beat me too the clarke gazclarke 151 mig machine
or stick to an arc welder
you wont be able to do 6mm with clarke max is 5mm no matter what it says in the manual
i have both machines and ive upgraded over time
though you will need to buy gas as well as explained above
dont be put off with the gas expense I admit i was and to be honest best thing i did myself
I was in the same position as you a skin flint bought what i could afford got used to it and in years gone by ive now bought better with more power in the machines
whats your supply in 2.5mm cable or is it in 4mm wire cableAlso has to be 3 pin as just have normal house electric supply, small garage to work from .
Something like that would work and suit your needs quite well, I would email weldequip or call them first about it though and that's all I will say on the subject.https://www.weldequip.com/parweld-xte181c-201c.htm thinking this one
+1 for the rtech bought one last year and I couldn have been happier with it very simple so perfect for someone starting out well able to weld up to 8mm unless for something structural. Up to 6mm it will run all day without a bother . Stick to .8mm wire do found it utter rubbish with .6 but that might just be meR -Tech 180 for me
I have one at home as well as one at work
Very good on stick as well
Option of alloy spool gun
Even decent on scratch start TIG
