its snapped a 35mm solid bar so i assume would be to much stress on a centreless? i thought they were mainly used where slight bends were needed?
I would be looking closely at the clearance between the flights and the feed chute, making it stronger is not really the answer if you can already hear the auger drive motors straining. Augering chip up a tube should be effortless. Almost needs a softer wiper type material on the outer edge of the flights to keep the chip in and not under the auger.
