best machinery colours

im going to come off like a nutter here i know i am. I'm a visual person for ******* loves machiney. I worked in factories back when there were factories (theres no factories here anymore... medical devices, thats about it) and there is an aesthetic to the places and the machiney contained within.

so we've all see the green colours employed on old machines, the navy used in overalls, you get the gist. Can anyone nominate some of theyre favorite machiney colours?

Im building a plasma table and im going to do it a petrol blue, havnt actually settled on the precise colour yet though. would love suggestions, any colour will do, i dont mind.

or am i alone on this.... its possible.

I have a load of old Japlac tins in truly horrible old colours So at some point I'm going to end up painting a lump of machinery 'Old Rose' or some such. I have a load of old Lister engines here and there's only so much Mid Brunswick Green I can stand... I painted a Record vice Fordson blue this week, that will upset someone...

depends what the machinery is I guess, concrete mixers and equipment got to be orange for me, fergie tracors need to be grey,gold,or red, saying that I do like the grey on plant and equipment it does look industrial,gun metal grey/black, lots of choices really.

I have five litres of Boxford blue that I had mixed years ago and I probably have 4 litres left so when it runs out I will make a decision on the next colour

Fordson Empire Blue, not bad, there is something there alright

Boxford blue is proper overall colour

Chillitt old colours, sounds good, maybe take a pic some time of what you got. In Ireland in the 70s/80s every thing was green, i mean they took it way too far... then when the 90's kicked in it was suddenly gone, and i missed it, so now i paint everything green -

fordson blue is nice, if green the same they painted the old marshall tractors is nice,sort of old bottle green.

The Fordson blue looks similar to RAL 5015 have seen quite a lot of that colour specified for jobs I have worked on.

I like that, Calor orange is a good choice :-)

But that photo does remind me I do need to re paint my vice, I spilled some thinners on it a while ago and it wasn't that good before I did.

I repainted a mixer with Farrow and Ball Charlottes locks which is as close to mixer orange as you will find from an up themselves expensive paint company... It stuck better to the mixer than anything else I've used F&B on..

Brunswick green is indeed a good machinery colour. Thats Charlottes locks orange is great, i love a good orange.
I'm find of signal yellow / RAL 1003 myself, which is more or less orange.

I'm sorted now, im going to use RAL 5015, its perfect, Chris thanks for that.

Would love to see more, this is great!

An automotive company over Liverpool way used to specify reseda green as the colour they wanted machines in. They suddenly seemed to change to flint. The next site visit showed a whole different feel to the place. Felt lighter, airier, not so dark. Housekeeping helped too of course- keep the machines clean.

I find the drab greens and blues a little depressing but don't have the courage to paint my Harrison with anything bright. I have painted my No. 6 Record vice a very bright shade of yellow though
