Hey guys normally im on the paint side of this forum but im looking to build up the metalworking side of my workshop . I have my portamig but now want a machine to cut accurate angles . I was looking at 4x6 drop bandsaws and chopsaws but i cant figure out what is better for accuracy . Budget is 500 euro . Any opinions welcome thanks

Whether you decide to go for a band saw or a chop saw, I would strongly advise you look for a swivel head machine. Not a machine with a swivel vice.
The swivel vice is very time consuming to set accurately and you will probably find your self avoiding cutting angles so as not to dusterb the vice you spent ages setting up square.

I find the best way to cut angles accurately is to mark what I'm cutting and not rely on the vice graduations on a machine whatever it is. I use a cheap chopsaw because it's what I've got but I've used a friend's band saw as well and they all have their pros and cons like noise, speed, mess etc. What are you cutting ? It might be easier with one than the other.

A chop saw will do it but its a faff setting up without a swivel head as said- messing around with protractors and scribers etc. What has to be remembered is if you force the cut especially with an abrasive wheel chop saw it will be far more likely to run off, so take it easy.
I have had to make do with my site chop saw a while in the shop now and frankly I cant wait to fit a good band saw or mechanical for larger sections and stuff- but not until the re-fit is fully finished. Chop saws are just fine for box and such though its just set up time and faff

Rage Evolution.
Wasn't convinced until I bought one myself. Accurate cuts, but not as burr free or quietly as the videos make out. Can't say I've had any sparks either.

Thats the one I bough, albeit, a manufacturer refurbished unit from eBlag at about half the price of new.
Thanks for all the responses guys they all helped. i ordered the rage evolution came in a under budget so i got myself a combination set square and scriber and a few other small bits . Should have it today . Going to get an order placed for some 40x40 to build the lower frame of the dune buggy over the weekend
