Hello all
Getting ready to shoot gloss topcoat (celly) in a week or so.
Does anyone have tips to get best finish from the gun (gun set-up/pressures / thinners ratio etc?)
Cellulose thinned 50/50 or 1:1, What kind of gun do you have and what compressor? I use a 1.4 nozzle 40-50psi gravity gun and turn the knobs till it suits. Overlap your lines about 50% so you don't get a dry patch, keep the gun parallel to the surface you are spraying and keep movement and distance constant. What are you painting, is it a car? More information would be good, there are probably professionals who can offer you more detailed advice.
i'd use the 1.4 set up.personnel i over thin by the spec sheet, only about 5% that suits me.i would say stick to spec sheet yourself.
use a slow thinner,so as it dont dry on you.
and watch the paint as it goes on,not the gun.
Finish you get will depend to some extent on the quality of the gun you have. Better guns will atomise better at lower pressures, while cheap ones will need higher pressures and atomisation wont be as good.
Makes an awful lot of sense to get a good quality gun if you are using less than ideal materials, and want to reduce the amount of work you will need for a reasonable finish.
