best epoxy resin

right. as I have just bought all that is needed to make a knife (apart from the steel to make a bevel jig, may use wood)

I need to know the names of a few good epoxy resins to bond the wooden handles to the knife made from tool steel.

anyone got any good products that work well for this sort of thing

If you want a proper handle which'll stay in place, make a full length tang and rivet the handle(s) to it.

I will be riveting to the tang, but have seen on a few YT vids that it is best to use a good epoxy as well

Araldite is plenty strong enough, I've been making them for years and never had one come off yet. Clamp them up overnight before you start shaping and the combined adhesive and pins will hold fine. I've done hidden tang and full tang knives and used Araldite slow cure for most of them. Devcon 2 ton epoxy is another named adhesive a lot of makers use.

do you rivet or just use tight fitting pins?

I have some brass rod supplied with my steel so will be using that as pins. have chose black Palmira for the scales

so the brass should look nice in there

I use close fitting brass or nickel pins and a lanyard tube, sometimes stainless pins and tube. Keep the handle clamped till the glue has gone off, I use some soft jaws and clamp in the vice overnight.
