I have a cheapy silverline and it is ****. No motor power so takes an age to do anything and always runs extremely hot, but adequate for what I need,I only paid 15 quid..

Surprising the filter didn't pick that up. Normally silverline is replaced by some other word

Wasn't just silver line that slipped through. Next word but one made the cut

I would always go for a decent make secondhand item. It's had the newness knocked off (and the price tag) plus they really don't make 'em like they used to.

True that though I have to say that my £100 sip professional 8 inch really is a nice bit of kit...it suffers from pressed steel rests too sadly however.

Axminster do a 900w one which is also quite nice, worth making decent rests for.

I had a Lidl one which was easy to bog down if you needed it for any 'serious' work. I bought an 8" one from a Member here and relegated the Lidl to wire brush one end and polishing mop on the other.

It's still possible to bog it, even polishing, but since I'm never under time/work pressure it works if you give it time.
