Best buy multitool

Got a Draper that tbh I no longer use as its got a weird, early style blade fitting. Probably ripe for conversion.

I then bought a Lidl Parkside one. Been faultless then the other week the switch was sticking on. I was gutted but it's freed off again on it's own. Use it with Saxton blades as someone else said earlier.

Recently bought a 20V Aldi Ferrex one to convert for use with Makita batteries via a 3D printed adapter. Epic fail. The adapter came out pucker but the tool was duff to start with.

I too bought the Fein Multimaster top. I bought it a few years ago and wanting to support our local Timothy Wood tool store I visited knowing I could buy online with next day delivery for £200. I took along £220 in cash expecting it to be a bit dearer; in store these were stacked as I entered; at the counter I was quoted £240; I explained I had £220 cash on me but no it would be £240 so no it wasn't it was £200 online with next day delivery; so much for supporting a local tool store?

I've only used it a few times but it's one of those tools when needed it's needed badly; it's a top piece of kit and should last a lifetime.

I always thought a multi tool would be about as useful as a JML Fluff Away. When my cabinet maker best mate started using one I thought he'd lost the plot.

Amazing how accurate you can cut with one tbh. I would be lost without mine.

Multi tools are great I wouldn’t be without mine. Had a Bosch corded for years but replaced with a festool cordless ripoff of the fein when the Bosch died. it’s a monster compared to the Bosch and cuts through metal like butter and allows super accurate slicing and dicing in wood, plasterboard or pretty much anything.

starlock blade system is really good.

Strangely enough I did Google RotoStrip and, like you, I only get results from USA. If you can find me one I can buy in the UK, I'll be impressed

yea just looked on eblag as well would be easy enough to make one if u have a lathe. just use high tensile fencing wire for the rods

I have had 3

Bosch (green) rough to use and easy to break after a few weeks of light abuse
Fein - superb tool, better than others I have tried, due to the cost it does not get abused
Ferex (Aldi) - More vibration than the Fein and a bit slower to cut, but I got it to do some plasterboard cutting and scraping off grout and I was worried about abusing the Fein. To be fair the Aldi unit did all that was asked of it and is still going strong (I donated it to my brother).


Personally from my experience I would either go cheap or expensive/ For my needs that Aldi one would actually be fine and for the amount I use it, justifying paying several time the price for a Fain is difficult. If I had my time over I would still buy the Fein but I would also still buy the Aldi one for a project where it would get heavily abused.

The multi-tool is one of those things I do not use that often but is very useful at times, if you are not going to use it much I would go for something like the Aldi one, if you want something to keep for years and are happy to pay for a nicer use experience then the Fein is a very nice tool to use (a bit lighter in the hand, a slightly better shape, less vibration and slightly faster to cut) but the Aldi one does the job for a fraction on the cost.

I have an Erbauer from Screwfix which I use with blades from Saxton Blades. Suits me fine although I am not a heavy user.

same here an erbauer dount use it much but gets you doing a job fast when nothing else will do cutting floor boards use battery saw near the edge you cant so finsh off with the multi tool and ive got a battery multi tool as well great for a quick bit of sanding or cutting when not much to do

All well and good, but it seems like you can no longer buy the flails...

dont bother i had one years ago dont know if it was quality but was not great in removing stuff and fell apart with shocking fails going every where good job glad had glasses on at the time
