I need to make a curved thing consisting of two parallel, curved, 10mm rods 8ft long, 5" apart. The curve is quite gentle.
Initially I tried rolling the rod into a curve using my Master RBR.
Not a great success due to the unwieldiness of 8ft of rod in the confines of my garage
I was wondering, given the curve is quite gentle, if just flexing the rod into shape on a plank and holding it with screws, then welding on the 5" spacer bars then flexing the second rod against them and welding would work?
My worry it that it would just introduce tension, and turn into a twisty mess once removed from the plank. Or that the inside curve would tend to threepenny bit its way round rather than curve.
Other option, if pre bent is best, would be to do it in sections and weld them back together ...
