That's a damn good article, hotrodder. It cemented a few things I'd seen in the past and often wondered about...
Check out some his books, 'Engineer to win' is probably the most relevant for most of us here... Starts out with some basic metallurgy and material properties and then applies that knowledge to most things involved in the fabrication and building of race cars. It was first published in '85 so nothing new or cutting edge but his writing style makes it a good read
