Hi All,
I've posted a similar thread to this before, but have been at this for a while now, just don't have access to a box and pan to test my theory and am looking at buying one 2nd hand, mainly hoping someone could test this for me with a bit of scrap before going for a purchase.
I started building a few small ali boats, built 5 so far, have been using a local company for the folding up to now, but there are some cases where i just wish i could bend something at my workshop to make my life easier and not have to go back and forth, all the main things are easy, can load them all on a trailer or in the van and go with it. But there's always those one or two other things you overlook, or need to bend to make them fit later type thing.
I'm just about to start building a 23 foot boat, have designed it in such a way where it will be mostly welding and little bending required, but there will be some smaller bits of 3 and 4mm 5083 which it would be easier to bend if possible, but not a showstopper if not.
The longest of which will be around 2m.
So my question is, would this be do-able with a couple of people with a box and pan folder? 4mm by 2m or maybe 2.4 at a push, i know the radius may be too tight, but was thinking you could enlarge the radius possibly with another bit of thinner metal bent first and sitting over the teeth so to speak.
Would be very interested if anyone has tried this, or could try it with a bit of scrap.
Thanks
Robert
