Bending 19...25mm steel tube with a hydraulic press?

(I see there's a Vevor 16T hydraulic one that has formers to do up to 2"/50mm available. With a frame extension added would one serve as a good bearing press too? Not expensive if so)

Ive bent a fair bit of tube over the years. Firstly whats the wall thickness. Using a conduit bender ( good quality one) 2.5 mm 25 mm tube isnt an issue. In a hydraulic push through it would crimp, as the cheapie hydraulic push throughs are for pipe not tube and the dies dont fit. Though can be packed out sometimes. The dies are key!

For a 1 off pack very tighly with dry sad, heat cherry red and itll bend easy enough. Or find some one with a bender to doit for you. Dont scrimp on tube length, its better to cut the ends off and throw away than have it too short.

Pipe and tube are ineffect same thing, but measured differently.

if your buying tube you would ask for outside diameter and wall thickness. So say 25mm od with a 2.5mm wall thickness sonetimes quoted in gauge (From memory 10 g is 3.25mm 12g is 2.5 etc charts are on line)

if buying pipe you ask for the inside diameter (up to 8 inch) and the schedule for example 1” schedule 40 is basically cheap water pipe, as the wall gets thickerthe schedule number increases to say sched 160 high pressure gas pipe.

Push through bender dies like those from sealy are for pipe. So the 1 inch die is for 1 inch inside diameter.

To make it even more complicated then you can go into hydraulic tube, which is quoted in outside diameter, even though it is actually a pipe, though a good quality seamless one.

So the material you buy can make all the difference to bending as some are harder than others depending on the heat treatment, some are seam welded, some are cold formed with no seam.

I ha e annular o e and used it on 25mm x 1.6 wall 316 SS. It was crap. Bent well enough but the clp makes marks where it golds so needs to be modified . Dam hard work to bend that spec of tu e.

I never thought of looking on Vevor for a bead breaker, I could do with one:clapping: It’s is aimed at tractors/ commercial vehicles. Not really suitable for car stuff. It’s a chunk to manhandle and there is a knack to using it. I’ve seen the same breaker on it’s own locally for £250, I paid...

That sounds like an absolute bargin if its the real deal. Ive a hilmor el32 with all the dies to 32mm, new price would be well north of 800 quid.
