oxy propane isnt that wild far behind acetylene in heat terms although i never liked it tbh, i use acetylene here but its got so hard to get its about as scarce as a pound of butter was in 1943.
I use propane can't get Acetylene locally Propane has actually got a higher BTU but has a lower neutral flame temperature and a slower flame speed. Also acetylene has a higher calorific value of the primary flame. A more intense flame at the metal surfaces means a hotter faster cut with a smaller HAZ
for a right while acetylene wasn't to be got at all round here, well the new acet bottles are like a drip feed , it was priority people that got it at the beginning and im not in that league, its slightly eased up somewhat but i still have to ring to see if there is a full one in stock before i go for it.

i wouldnt mind, i have 2x old stubby acet bottles now that i cant get shot of, nobody wants them, not even the scrappy.
