Benchmaster Senior mech. saw blades.

Just looking out for some blades for my lovely saw, bought for £10.

I had picked up Eclipse blades for £2, but noticed they were 10 tpi. I take it these are more suitable for brass or ally? There is a blade in it around 18 tpi, and although worn, it still cuts.
What are guys using for general mild steel? Just the same tpi that works on hand hacksaw blades?
I know the trick of cutting, dressing and punching holes in the blades to make fit.

show us yer saw.......I'd go for bi metal blades......think Sandvik make some very good flexy blades with super teeth about £6-8 each tho........prob got enough Eclipes blades to c me out tho.......
just ordered a M42 special from Tuff saw in Wales as recomended from this forum.........keen to try that out......

Your blade selection depends on the thickness of the metal you are cutting. If you use the rule of 3 teeth in contact with the metal you are cutting you'll not go wrong.

A 10 tpi blade has a 2.5mm pitch x 3 = 7.5mm, so suitable for metals 7.5mm & above. If you use them on thinner material you run the risk of chipping off the teeth or the blade jumping or jamming.

A 25 tpi blade has a 1mm pitch x 3 = 3mm so suitable for 3mm metals

A finer blade will cut a wider range of metals, the downside of that is it will take longer.

not on a donkey saw u cant 2 flexible I just buy any size hss blades cheap cut them down and re drill the hole its easy

Donkey saws are brilliant! No mess, no sparks, no loud noise. Cuts square with a few shims on the bed.
