Anyone got any ideas on the best way to remove the millscale from the top of a 2x1m benchtop.......? flap disk..belt sander....I had thought about chunko's method using the acid solution, but it's probably too large a surface for it to be effective.
Was just thinking of having a perfect earthing surface Hitch, on't other hand I suppose it will stop the top rusting up, I tend to forget that the benchtops at work while bare and shiny, are in a nice warm shop
I would leave the millscale on as long as you can. It will reduce the amount of spatter that sticks to it, and stop it rusting. I started out with a 20mm plate bench so millscale was very thick. Never any problems with earthing.
How true would one expect 8-10mm plate to be. The main purpose for my bench is to have a nice flat surface to work on. I have. Few little jobs coming up and wanted the bench for them.
