Bench shear blade angles?

Some time ago I picked up a very rusty bench shear (lever and scissor type, not a guillotine), it's all been through the EGBERT to remove the rust, now it's time to paint, reassemble and - the interesting bit - sharpen the blades with a stone and hone.
Any clues as to the geometry of the blades? they *appear* to have a slight rake, only a few degrees, but I'm unsure whether that's intentional or wear...

All shears that I have used have been as you describe, Just a few degrees, not much rake at all.

just checked my lever operated bench shears , fixed & movable blades seem to have a rake of about 2 degrees

The blade clearance is also important to set for a clean shear depending on material and thickness.

I've heard it should be set to cut paper along the length of the blade? Little grubscrews?
