Picked up this drill as per scrap price. Seems pretty solid old drill. Full stuck doesn't go down. Motor works
Any idea what is it
Any idea what is it
Yes, no idea what it is though sorry. Looks a great project
no idea on make but once u get it running it'll outlast anything from machine mart.....
hope theres no play in the quill bearings but prob adjustable at that age....
nice one....
For some reason I'm thinking Pollard Corona but I could, and probably am, completely wrong wrong wrong.
Looks like a Pollard base and column but possibly and probably it's had a different motor/drive fitted at some point.
right hereAll the pictures I found of Pollard ones had a rectangular flange on the bottom of the column. His is semi-circular. I looked at Alfred Herbert ones but none of those are correct. The 'swoop' at the top of the column is different to any photos I can find. The method of height adjustment is standard to that style of drill.
It looks pretty well soaked to me. If it's a stud into a blind hole then the nut should unscrew but, since the lot's rusted together expect the stud to wind out.Have you covered it / soaked it in penetrating oil, i.e. WD 40.
Acetone and ATF, works better apparently.

Stud is winding up. What can be done to unlock it?It looks pretty well soaked to me. If it's a stud into a blind hole then the nut should unscrew but, since the lot's rusted together expect the stud to wind out.
