should get a nice sharp edge at that angle And once its sharp, its not staying sharp for long

I'd never put my chisels near a grinder, may take a bit longer but I prefer the oilstone

the mind boggles wunder who it is that gets sumone to demonstrate ruining the cheap wood chisell .good job it isnt a marples ps the sparks look bright must be as soft as sh ,,.,.t

thats of the chissel before he knaked it they look as if they have been planed off a thin piece of wood

It's probably the shredded paper packaging the grinder comes in

Just bought a Sip bench grinder at my 'local' Halfords for £10.

Hi,

also not a good idea to be creating sparks in a wood-work-shop...too many piles of wood dust or shavings to catch and smoulder for a few hours before bursting into flames.

I always do any woodwork in/on the workmate outside the workshop to keep flamable dust to a minimum.

Faked up image I reckon, grinder looks like a 3D rendering, some of the rest 'shopped on. Hence the shiney-ish wheels and unfeasible angle probably.

Can anybody suggest a fairly meaty bench grinder that is available from new nowadays , my lightweight one is just about capable of letting me sharpen a 12 mm twist drill with out slowing too much. I'd be looking for a nine incher of slightly bigger ?

Thanks Robotstar, I won't be rushing to buy one then. I already have a 6" Wolf thats done me for 35 years and still going, wonder if the Lidl ones will last that long.
