Hi All,
Think Ive messed up the 36 grit wheel on my bench grinder. I'm trying to repair the plunger shaft for an old paraffin lamp.
Basically I have been welding onto the shaft to fill out where its pitted and not forming a tight seal with the plunger. Anyhow Ive added my welds and roughly grinded down with grinder. I then put the shaft into a drill and ran it off the side of the grinding wheel. It worked well up until the point I noticed a lot of grit coming off the wheel. The side of the wheel is not longer flat.
Is that the wheel finished or can I still use it on the front face?
Guess I'm using the wrong tool for the job but it's all I got, i.e. no lathe or belt sander.
