BEKO fridge not, well, 'fridgeing' :-)

As title, approx 6-7-year-old BEKO TDLA621W larder fridge (no freezer compartment) not getting cold enough, even with the 'stat at max (runs approx 10-11 degrees at present), compressor running, outlet pipe from compressor very hot but by the time it gets to the tops of the condenser tubes it feels tepid/lukewarm. Local repair man can re-gas for £75 but no guarantee this will fix fault, has to charge this to cover gas cost.
Has anyone any suggestions/experience of similar please?

bin it and buy a new one no point in wasting money on repair for the price of them beko arent the best of makes

as BS says, its past its date now, whatever is wrong with it could be something little, could be something major. fridges are cheap enough in the grand scheme of things. they are on my list of what I consider consumable long with washing machines and dish washers

Were it mine I think I'd have a look round it for loose contacts and see that the thermostat wasn't choked up with dirt, but not much more.

Apart from that, I agree with the other lads, you've had about as much out of it as it's likely to give. I certainly wouldn't spend £75 on a maybe repair to something which can be replaced for what? £150? £200?

When I was after a new fridge freezer I was advised to avoid Beko if I wanted something to last "long term". As has already been said expect 5 years life and you won't be disappointed.
BTW our last two fridge freezers were auto defrost and got scrapped due to problems with the electronics. Now we have a traditional manual defrost (once a year) Samsung and it's been ultra reliable. Even so I only expect a limited life.
I bought a new Hotpoint (made in Poland) cooker and doubt it'll last 5 years as such poor quality ! Gone are the days of quality products unless you are willing to pay "an arm and a leg".

Is there plenty of airflow around it?
We had a similar problem the other day on one about a year old. Pulled it away from the wall a bit, moved the crap off the top...unplugged it for a couple of hours until the compressor and pipes cooled down, then turn it back on. Nice now.

Moved and cleaned it last night, doesn't seem to have made much difference this morning. I'll maybe try the off-and-on trick later when I get home from work to see if that helps, but I do fear the worst. Bloosy typical though that we've just commited nearly all of our finances elsewhere so can't really afford to push the boat out too far

Facebook selling pages seem to have some good bargains & Gumtree is worth a look too.
