It seems like it bothers you TBH. It shouldn't though because all that guy had left was a parting shot and all it did was show his weakness of character.

Some people see the price of 'classics' and think that they can jump on the bandwagon with any rotting POS and anyone who looks at it should become dewy-eyed. Other people are realists.

A couple of guys at work bang on about Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts like they were some mystical creature that should be idolized. They weren't, they were basic, low-spec cars for the masses. They didn't drive half as well as they rusted and the only reason they are so much in demand nowadays is because so many of them dissolved into a brown stain or shat out all their oil on the road there aren't many left. As a youth I think I had 12 mk2 Escorts and they all were crap.

Yeah, but with an lsd and a decent engine they were good at going sideways though...

I won a Volvo V70 on eBay with a declared issue changing gears...when I arrived the issue was confirmed...but he'd failed to mention there was a big oil leak between the box and the engine. That's a crank seal and a big job!

I probably wouldn't have checked/noticed but he insisted on meeting in a random car park in London...so I suspected something was up!

To be fair he said he was a car flipper and got landed with the lemon...

I enquired about a engine out of a l200 , supposed genuine low low miles from a write off , told the guy was a well known and regarded dealer , so askedfor reg no. to confirm mileage on last mot , no reply after 3 weeks asked why no reply , the answer was we dont bother with time wasters..! I replied when spending thousands on a lump sat on a pallet I am going to do my due diligence . and obviously got no reply , if they can catch you out they will ,never ever trust any ones word .
