Beginner needing a bit of advice

Just picked myself up a murex autolynx 3 second hand, never welded before but have been giving it a bash on some 1.5mm steel. I think Im doing everything right - holding the torch at about 70 degrees and between a cm away and actually touching the shroud. I cant maintain it though, the wire feed seems to become sticky after the gun gets hot, what can I do to help?

Sounds like you tip may be clogging or your wire feed rollers are a little too slack and your wire is slipping?

You're better off learning on something a bit thicker than a crisp packet too! Your welder can kick out 180 amps so if ypu can get hold of something around 4mm thick you'll find it easier to learn without risk of burning through etc.

The tip should be fine as I picked up some new ones yesterday. Ill try tightening up the wire feed.

How do you know when you need a new liner?

Maybe your wire feed needs turning up and you need to move quicker
