Like Westley Richards I went round there before they moved, it was like a time warp, guns made by hand
Another one is A A Brown & Sons, looks like they've all jumped on Purdy's bandwagon though as they all charge circa £40K for a 12 bore now !!
Thing with bespoke guns is though, if anyone were buying a used one it probably wouldn't fit them very well, even if they were of similar physique to the original owner. So it would need to be re-fitted to suit them if that is possible, and that would certainly be expensive !

The place i used to work and previous business made the locks in the white up to around 1984 ish. Thats the period when they sacked any one any good, nowadays employ barrel makers and engineers who moan at removing a few thou.
Current guns were sent to us for repair as at two years ago.
Not that expensive compared to a new gun Tigler and depends where you go.
Westleys have the mainsprings made in India, cleaned up, hardened, pulled up and fitted over here.
Used to do the work for anyone who was anyone in the trade being one of two people still alive with the know how. I can say that as i am no longer under contract.
While on the subject, some of the best guns ever made were made in Brum!

I know someone who had a .375h&h bolt action made with westley recently, he only got it a few weeks back. I have to say its a work of art and about a third of the cost or less of a similar rifle made (supposedly) in london. I am surprised that westley have to bother with penny pinching measures like the indian mainsprings when they have quite a large toolmaking business right beside them.

Moulton's amazing ridiculous things, love them.
My mate has a custom one, he paid a fortune, wont say how much but he had it converted to belt drive with a 14 speed Rohloff hub.
And he rides it he even did one of our stupid downhill races on it.

I confess to riding a 2.5k Mountain bike, a Marin Mount Vision, bought it two years old for £600. ha Ha, from the fat guy who cant pedal.
The gixxer Enduro thing? sounds quite daft.
At The Bulldog Bash I once saw a an old Tenere with an oilcooled four cylinder motor crammed in it.
Wrong photo I thought my Moulton riding mate was in it.
