I have to replace my office chair to post on this site , it broke it's arm so it's for the skip. It's worst fault was not that incredibly, but that the casters rely on the vertical spindles not a thrust bearing making them jam and skate often, on my hardwood floor. Looking for a new chair on the usual website they don't specify whether if they have a thrust bearing or not, can you tell if they have, is there a option to buy new casters if they don't, is the spindle a standard size and shape?

From not so good previous experience of buying office chairs online. I look at places like Ikea

We have two Ikea one the very expensive ones they often crop up on Market place, or get your self down to your local supermarket as many of them sell castors cheaply at 4 for £1.

Sometimes you can get a good office chair that just needs a new cover

I saw an office chair that had a heated seat

never seen one with thrust bearings.....
bought a new one from Ikea, the works one was by the bins....just the fabric faded with the sun....
when the chair seat falls apart it will get a pressed steel tractor seat.....lol....

The one I've thrown out was heated, I had a lovely one before that was heated and a massage regime lasted 15 years. The thrust bearings are usually cheap pressed steel races you can see the balls in them but they work.

The IKEA ones are pretty good actually. I'm currently using a dining room chair but I'm going to upgrade and get a proper one. IKEA also sells a clear floor protector which will save the wood floor from getting trashed.

....I suffer from back problems so I think I need to spend big unfortunately .

I bought replacement wheels for my Ikea chair, they have polyurethane wheels so don't scratch wooden floors.

They didn't advertise the fact, but had to make available proper seating, seven hours on a kitchen chair isn't fun, so I was issued a proper adjustable office chair, along with additional screen, keyboard, laptop stand etc. which didn't need to be returned

The Ikea ones we bought are over £100 new the two we bought where about £40 each so good saving

As one of the absolute legends, the peak of civilised society and moral icons that kept the country going by working through lockdown, I'd like that chair for my wife's office as back payment for all the tax I paid.
If you can get it here before she starts work on Monday that would be great.

I got fed up of breaking "home office" desk chairs (check out their max weight capacity when considering buying !) so bought a secondhand proper office chair for something like £30 and have yet to break this one
