Is this tool likely to be able to get in behind this bearing (70mm across)?

I think there will be an issue since there is such a tiny radius at the base of the bearing?

Careful use of a grinder will do the job. Reminds me of Tranny nightmares.....

That style of tool is correct for the job, in theory....

would have thought so. the puller is tapered down to nothing and bolted up tight to the back of the bearing

the separator in the set I got (like in your link) wasn't hardened to any extent, so got a bit chewed up with the bearing as it was suck.

get a sykes picavant one then you get what you pay for

Might just do that again then, the one I did last week I must have cut at least 90% of the way through and came close to marking the spindle, how far through do I need to cut?

With Ford Tractor axles I've always had to mangle the cage and rollers off, then run a hot bead of weld over the bearing. They usually come off easily after that

A weld bead on the race will shrink and make it tighter
Only works on the inside of bearing outer track

Put a puller on it and warm the bearing, will come off no bother

That the proper tool for the job, but even the Sykes ones curl their edges up at times.

I purchased one of the listed tools and for the price, I've no complains, but I would still use an angle grinder n hammer if required.

This won't work on a well stuck bearing, and can mark the shaft, but standard procedure is to put a small cold chisel in the joint, sharp tap from a hammer and the bearing moves away from the shoulder, then pry off with screwdriver or pry bar, no damage to bearing. Thought everyone knew that. For a stuck one, I usually go for the angle grinder, sometimes I overdo it and mark the shaft slightly, it doesn't matter that much.

Got this ex wd sykes bearing separator yonks ago for the trucks, dont know what steel it is but its had a lot of use in the thirty years I have had it and it was not new then. Splitting edge is still like new.

Got it off today, I hammered in a chisel between the bearing and the shoulder.

Then pulled it off.
