Bearing selection

dose anyone know of an idiots guide to bearing selection, I've had a Google and can't seem to find anything with basic descriptions and applications.

I have a few project planned and would like to gain a better understanding.

I've got a pdf ( quite lengthy though) of bearing maintenance from skf which gives descriptions of the various types but it's quite in depth rather than just a quick guide.

I can email if you want (pm your email address) or you should be able to find it via Google, though iirc it wasn't easy to find. (I think it's normally paid for, but that may have changed)

Some of bearing suppliers' websites have data sheets and descriptions on them.

Sent both Ross - not sure if they were really what you were after (140 pages for the skf one so not really a brief guide!!) but they are packed with info.

I'll have another look to see if I have something else in the depths of old laptop back ups!

SKF has a bearing selection app for iphone or android as well. Not used it so I can't comment on how it works.

I have a bearing shop in my village, I usually take the broken bearing/part in and ask for help. If I think it's going to be expensive I send Mrs Kayos and get her to be all girly/lost
