Just thought I would post my first
Experiment made a thingy to remove the rear wheel bearing on my landrover
Not brilliant but will do the job I've bashed it with lump hammer seems solid enough
Excellent! If it works on a Landie chances are it`ll work on my MG.
You taking orders?
Sense of achievement = 100. The fact we can buy reasonably priced kit, learn from YouTube and forums such as this great one and end up creating our own tools is just so damn cool!
I used a slide hammer on my front wheel bearings and they came apart without too much hassle. Good luck with it.
I don't have a press up in Yorkshire we make
Do and it cost me nothing plus by the time
You have stripped the hub to put on your press I will have done
Just looked at them on the bay of e there
Sh** cheap alloy
The reason they are alloy is so you don't mark the shells when you put them in. They also come with a drift that you hit with a hammer like yours.
I thought maybe £14 may save you half an hours work on multiple other occasions.
I am all for making stuff and at times given the situation it is the only way forward if you need to get a job done but for £14 I don't see the point in the future when that set would cover you for a multitude of situations.
I'm knocking the bearing out so not too bothered whether it's damaged or not tbh
I suppose if you need them there ok but
Usually the cheap stuff on the bay are ****e
Made in china
Depending on what sort of Landrover it is you may find it doesn't help you. If it's one with tapered bearing then it's only the outer shell that needs drifting out and the are special slots in the hub to sit a punch in on many of them as there isn't overhang to get any purchase on. Putting the new shell is where the alloy pieces come into their own.
