Hard to help further without clarifying the application a bit. We talking about a taper roller bearing, flat race thrust bearing or what? A normal ball bearing can take a hell of a lot of thrust for short service.

It is a thrust bearing, basically a washer, a race of captive ball bearings and another washer, all within a casing. The bearing fits tightly into an outer casting and the shaft fits tightly into the centre. It resists linear load and axial load.
Looking on tractor forums, other people have struggled to find the right bearing but no one has come back to say how/if they sorted it.

Are you not a member of a club or such? A chap I know used to have a Fordson, I believe. Can ask him if he's any idea if you could mention exactly which part it is.

I think i have a non-standard levelling box on there. I've just found the original part drawing and its nothing like what i have. It looks like the bearing Pete has linked to on ebay would fit the 'original' Dexta bit of kit.
Mine is marked 'enfo' so IS original Fordson kit...i have found this a few times with my tractor that it has oddball bits on it that are not referenced on forums/manuals/original details.

No-one in the club has any ideas or suggestions then, I take it? Have you tried phoning a bearing supplier and seeing if they stock or can source owt like? Not used them in years so no idea what they're like for stock/helpfulness nowadays, but Albion Transmission, (if memory serves me correctly), in Barnsley might be worth ringing.
Nowt's ever simple, is it.

There's lots of posts about them, but they look nothing like mine! Typical.
I'll pop into a bearing place Monday; if not the only thing i can think is to bore out the casting to suit something standard.

That type of bearing doesnt go tightly on a parallel shaft, because both races are the same id and if knocked onto a parallel shaft would lock the whole thing up, the shaft would have to be stepped to allow the bearing to operate.
Plus they are not generally knocked into a tight hole for the opposite reason of squashing the soft OD outer shell down onto the inner races.

Not designed for radial load either, just thrust. I suspect that the cause of spinning on the shaft is the balls rusting in the races and the races rusting in the outer shell causing the rotating element to seize.

It's marked 'enfo' so is an original part which i would like to retain.
The aftermarket sparex, vapormatic etc spares are, generally, total rubbish. It's well known that they fit badly and bear little resemblance to original bits.
Two reasons to keep the tractor as genuine as possible.

I can see you wanting to keep the original handle and leveller, but if the bearing isn't visible then why not change it out? Th eone I linked to is already going rusty and it's not even fitted 
Now, if you could find that taper bearing I linked to but in stainless, that would be even better, or if originality is a prime consideration, that bearing would be an easy job to make in stainless and fit stainless balls.
