Bead roller build

With the imminent new Volvo project, I’m going to have to make some bead rolled panels. As I stupidly sold the bead roller I got given a few years ago and I’m tight as a crabs hoop, I figured I’d make one.

Apologies for the naff picture! It’s all 5mm plate slotted and tabbed. I’ll 3d print dies for it off to my plasma cutter tomorrow

why not enlarge the gap , and with changeable wheels you would nearly have an english wheel / plashing hammer too .

I’d sooner have individual tools that do one job well than multiple jobs alright!

I see tabs running above the top shaft does that give you enough adjustment ? I assume the top one is the moveable one

Yes, there’s 2” of clearance

If you manage to build something without a side quest, you've cheated...

Can't wait to see the build though, I've got a cheapy bead roller as a Xmas present for a nother reason than I haven't got one yet.

Out of interest, what material would you use to print the dies? I assume they would eventually wear and need reprinting depending on how much use they got

Probably petg, because that’s what’s in the printer and if it only lasts a couple of panels I can just stick another one on to print at bedtime! For the thicknesses I’m doing, I suspect they’ll last just fine

Forgot to mention, the throat is 24” or thereabouts so should prove handy
