Battery welder, in my inbox?

No I am not trying to advertise this, but had an email, must have been from some previous Ebay purchases, saying about a Lithium powered welder that would do 38 times 3.2mm rods on a full charge.
Specs show the batteries are 55Volt and either 26 AH or 36 AH, so to me that is 1.43KWH and 1.98KWH max output, I really would have thought you needed more then that amount of stored energy?

I will have a guess that some of you will also be getting these emails from your own ebay purchases, mine is now in the trash can.

I did a weld in the field by connecting the electrode directly to the vehicle battery using jump leads.

I have seen that done before too and it actually works to get u out of trouble I think the guy used a couple of batteries though

if you've seen myth busters on Tv I remember watching a youtube video of there tools / setup

the non-beard guy (Adam?) said they use battery powered migs out in the field and they're great


I guess they have (or were given) crazy expensive ones, bot cheap ones... but the do a fair bit of welding and I bet they have health and safty all over them so they must be decent ?

The company I work for also make batteries for this sort of use in the middle of nowhere

Our Li-Ion battery which is used for a similar purpose puts out 360 volts at full charge and 125 volts prior to running out of charge. I am sure it is around 2600Ah and ours will burn around 8 x 3.2mm Electrodes on a full charge so god knows how they are claiming 38 electrodes capacity from that

I really think this could be an issue if you get one, as you know what it is like trying to deal with Ebay sales from abroad when back up is very difficult.
Not to say that you will not get good service, but is it worth the risk.

And is says 38 rods????

Are you sure it's not 2600MAh? 2600AH at 360v equates to over 900KWH. If that's still a mobile rig then you guys need to be speaking to the car companies about licensing the battery technology to them.

If you are interested the I suggest you contact the email in my previous post, but to me these seem like snake oil. Sceptic probably.
