Battery storage over winter

I just know someone will know the answer to this so...

I have a log cabin that I manage with a PV system and lead acid storage batteries ( total off grid). The place is being shut down for winter now and will be unoccupied until spring ( or pretty much).

Will the batteries be OK or do I need to find somewhere better to store them as the place will be totally unheated for the next 4-6 months? I would prefer to not have to replace them next year.

Can you leave the system on?, a work colleague has a PV system and leisure battery on his caravan and leaves it connected over winter with no problems.

just make sure therekept fully charged all the time it b..gers them up after they have been left flat

fit a solar panel to keep them topped up. depending on the amount of batteries you have will depend on the panels size , but you wont need a big one

A solar panel is a PV (Photo Voltaic) system

They need to be kept charged. Discharged they will sulphate or even freeze and burst.

thanks guys, that's what I thought but wanted to be sure... they are permanently wired to a pv system so charging is not an issue

i service a few fire alarm systems .they use 2 x100amp hour car batteries permanently on tricle charge they get replaced about every 5 years
