Battery impact drivers - torque vs price (how much is needed?)

That's the one I have with the 5ah high output battery, maybe I'm being thick here but what setting is the most powerful, #3 or the one with the bolt on it?
I had it set to #3 and it wouldn't shift a Mazda 3 wheel nut that had been Kwik-fitted on!

3 should be the most powerful, the 4th is basically a nut spinner that cuts off at very low torque.
Setting 2 removes wheel nuts off the Shogun with ease, same setting will remove drive shaft nuts too. 3 should remove the wheel nut with ease.

Some high power tools you ge the drop off in performance like you described on the standard batteries. The High Output ones give you the full performance until the battery is dead. They are been phased out for the Forge batteries that are like having the power of a 12ah battery fitted but with a run time of the 6, 8 or 12 ah battery

I'd second what has been said regarding the usability of the larger guns, I have 1600 breakaway and 300, if I were to buy again I'd probably go compact mid torque. Quite a few jobs the 300 can't do and the larger one can be a bit cumbersome on car stuff but is a beast, done crank bolts with ease.

send it off for service, that impact should snap a m10 bolt. easily. probably snap a m12 one too. never tried though.

I find my m12 impact wrench undoes best set on the bolt. Don't know if thats right but I've just flicked through the settings if its appeared to struggle and that one gets the land rover wheel nuts off fine.

I have not had any luck with Milwaukee. Both grinders failed shortly after guarantee, and both had not a lot of use, so will not buy again.

I have a 1/2 inch Kielder impact wrench which spins the wheel nuts off the Unimog with no bother, but they are maintained.

Got one of their combi drills too, which I have been happy with.

My 4.5 inch grinder is a few years old now, workmates one is even older, but that makes grumbling noises as he uses it! but they all get some hard.

I have a few Milwaukee tools, and can say hand on heart none have failed in what must now be getting on for 15 years, a few though have plain worn out.

I'm gonna have a go on the Surf wheels tomorrow as they haven't been off for a long time, I'll go through the settings but won't start low and work up just incase the nut gets loosened with the constant rattling, I'll hit it with mode 3 on a couple of nuts then try the bolt setting on a couple of others.

TBH I couldn't tell you. Twas about 8 to 10 years ago and both long gone. They were corded though and not battery.

Best 115mm angle grinder I ever had was a Black & Decker from the professional range. That one lasted 20 years and had a LOT of use when I was deeply into my Land Rover obsession. Corded obviously.

The Black and Decker pro range was made by Elu and was top quality. I have a really nice Elu 4.5 and it was my only grinder for years and did a lot of work.

I still have two b+d corded grinders, done a lot of work welding up a boat, was gutted when one passed away, luckily machine mart still had one left, and it was their last one anywhere.
