Basic cctv system

appologies for the lack of knowledge here guys but thought if anyone will know it will be you lot !

At some point in the future i want to install a 2ch cctv system on my property but for now id like to hook up a dome camera outside the front door attached to my tv so i can see who is there without getting up (extremely lazy i know !)
I doesnt have to record but would have to work at night too so im assuming infrared ?
Is this possible?

mark they are cheap enough nowadays for a stand alone system with cameras or buy them seperate just buy the cctv unit

with the domes they are ok but choosing a ptz camera is even better and dont forget your zoom function

any system can be added upon with further cameras or better cameras though its up to you which system that you get a usb,cd net based recording one I prefer usb easy to pull off the info onto a usb stick and transfer to a pc

cctv systems can connect to normal lcd tvs but to leave them on you need a crt screen as lcds will image screen burn

Thanks fellas due to the angle of the front door and property i think a dome would be ok but can see the advantages of a ptz camera , maybe can upgrade at a later date ,

I started the original thread and bought the Swann system from Costco. If you aren't in Costco, you can usually get a 'day pass' to have a look round and see if you think it's worth joining. Very happy with our system so far, though haven't sorted out where the other three cameras are going.
