There is a name for some of it "Poor Art" (yes thats the technical name for making art out of junk or cheap stuff)
Hirst has shot himself in the foot, he boasted one of "his" lauded paintings was done by his son aged 3 or something....since then a lot of his pieces have failed to make anywhere near their reserve value...seems he burst his own balloon and people woke up to the fact they had been had....
Emin can actually paint...I've seen some of her "normal" stuff and its quite nice...but she's realised to be a "name" in the fine art world...you need to be controversial / an enfant terible (and its been that way since Warhol...)
The Kelpies are a cool set of sculptures...were meant to go and see them, but the first time we got lost and ended up at the falkirk wheel, and then my wife injured her foot and has developed a "mortons neuroma"...meaning walking is hell on earth for her...and all because she decided moving a bicycle was too much work and stretched over it...and it fell on her...
I've always wanted to mess about with these " art installations" put my own junk in there when they're not looking. My art is as good as their art ?
The "visual arts facility" in Colchester had a display of 620 bricks, piled up on a palletPersonally you can't sell a load of bricks so whats the point in being an artist if yer bricks are a load of rubble.
