Hi Rob,
Time is of the essence now, i f you haven't got spray facilities then brush and roll epoxy on, I wouldn't worry about the finish at the mo, as the first couple of coats end up as dust when you start to prep it.
Nice job of the strip, who did it, can you discuss costs and waiting times?

Enviro Strip Tamworth did the job, You'll have to contact them re cost as it varies on shell type and what processes you want done. I got a bit of a discount as I did some of promotion for them at the Resto Show at the NEC. Waiting time also varies a lot dependant upon time of year.

Ive had two C Capris done by them just a few months apart, I would recommend the Pyrolosis process as it does not involve a caustic dip which can sit in the seams and leach out after the car has been repainted.

Hi,

This shell has just been thru pyrolosis , phosphoric dip and passivation, I have no idea how long the passivation will hold off the rust......anyone have any experience of this?

What are my options for priming at home without the professional safety equipment?

If going the pro route I guess you guys would recommend 2pk epoxy primer onto the bare metal.... if so, what prep is required for the bare metal before application.

Hi Guys, looking at paint options now, can you tell me what you think of SPECTRAL epoxy primer....Under 385 and H6985....?

Metalflake seem to be offering Lechler primer and hardener at quite good prices. Caveats are:
The untinted one (3.4L) is the only one cheap, tinted it more than triples in price. Solution go to your local paint shop and get some tinter in the right shade and mix in yourself.
They have only got the thinners in 5l quantities, solution buy it elsewhere. I should think you can use any epoxy thinner but I'm not sure on that, if anyone can clarify.

Finding the products on the metalflake site is not particularly easy but if you type

I ordered 2 of the primer (6.8L) and 3 of the hardener (3L) as I've still got some old hardener left over.

I hate that new Metalflake Web site. Near impossible to find stuff. I would like to know if it's affected their sales as the search function is hopeless.
