I grew up wanting to be a banker and done my work experience in a bank when i was at school. I think I am much happier sticking bit of metal together rather that sticking stamps on envelopes now

what you need to do is write to the bank stating exactly what happened and the fee you have incurred because of their error if you spoke to someone at the bank but got no joy include this in the letter.
then you need to add
if this matter is not resolved to my satisfaction by what ever date you give ( i would allow 2 weeks make sure you date the letter and keep a copy) i will take my case to the bank ombudsman and seek legal advice.

this usually works ive done it and still use the same bank

It's quite amazing how many people get screwed by NA TWEST, they done the same to me not once but twice, then refused me access to remove funds from an account that I kept as an as an when needed backup account, hadnt taken anything out in twelve months, and when I tried I was told that basically this was not my account and they were putting it in the hands of their fraud division.......needless to say all accounts were closed and bank was binned in short order, with the relevant letters to BM's local MP and anyone else I could think of.......pompous arses....
