Banggood..any good?

Against my better judgement there's some gear on Banggood i would like. I know its imported Chinese stuff. It's a 1/5 of the price of buying the original gear and shipping in from America.

I accept it will potentially need some fettling but for a decent saving i don't mind doing this as long as the item isn't just pure junk.

Has anyone got experience with them? What are they like for returns?

Yeah, i've seen this too. Presumably paying with Paypal on BG gives the same protection?

I've seen John's reviews. Its his fault i was looking on there.

I’ve used them half a dozen times, so far they have been reliable but do check prices elsewhere they are not always the cheapest for the same kit.

As much as i kick myself for importing id rather do that than pay more for the same stuff rebranded with huge margin

Sometimes shipping on small items can be a little slow. I’ve had one or two things incorrectly supplied or missing but have had no issues getting the correct items supplied.

I used them once,thru a recommendation here,the impact gun is fine,but I can’t get a vat invoice,or vat number from them.
Incidentally bang good,translates as good good

I use them loads Paul and find them good. Some points I’ve gleaned over the years:

• Returns are problematic and normally you end up with some monies back and keeping the unit itself.
• Always pay extra for the faster postage. Priority direct is what I use, normally about two or three quid more.
• Anything you buy that has pins on it like a PCB will have the pins bent to the four corners of the globe.
• Components like trimmer pots on circuits are usually a bit poorly placed by the pick and place / wonkily soldered. This makes them a bit tricky to adjust sometimes.
• I’m terms of value for money, always check eBay as said, quite often you can get for similar money and geographically closer.
• You can save a massive chunk on the promos and doing multi buys.
• The checkout screen should always be double checked to make sure it hasn’t reverted back to the free postage option.
• Tracking numbers are normally for Yodel or DHL. You get better results on their respective sites than through BG.
• Don’t bother with any plants or seeds. They’re usually a failure.
• The VIP scheme they run is a bit of a waste of time so don’t worry about getting a good level as it doesn’t make much difference if any.

Overall though I like BG and continue to use them happily

I’ve used them umpteen times, and have never had a problem with them. Yes, sometimes they can cost more than on ebay, but with the amount of discount codes and insurances they offer, I tend to keep to them for purchases.

But the ebay protection is very short lived, i.e. when it turns to sh1t after a year you are on your own, that is why I quite like Lidl stuff, some sort of warranty for 3 years, it is a balancing act, cost verses backup,

I had a lack of invoice with my car lift from ebay, made up my own as I did manage to get his vat number

use them all the time and cant complain, everything i have had so far did what it was supposed to.

Bit like asking if Tesco's are any good. It will always be cheap but it won't always be good.

Once in while you'll end up with rotten chicken or a pie made from horsemeat.

You can eat it and it will keep you going but there will be no pleasure to be had.

I try to find a UK supplier 1st for the same items and dont mind paying an extra 10 to 20% for this..pays dividends for hassle free returns and you can normaly get your item within 3 days...would i use Banggood? only iff i had no choice.

A Real check what you are buying especially sizes photos are deceiving what I have ordered has been what was delivered, a couple of items were junk (small motors & gearboxes) bit other value for money.

You really need the recommendation for a specific item from someone like @doubleboost. Otherwise it is a bit of a lottery. It may be that Banggood are trying to develop a reputation for cheap quality (if there is such a thing) but without prior knowledge it's a shot in the dark.

I have discovered (to my cost) that even similar looking items nay not be the same and the Chinese sellers might be a little casual with their wording. I recently bought a Wanscam PTZ security camera. I have had the "identical" unit for years but the replacement turned up with no "Z". Everything is identical, including the description, except for the camera unit.

Just flicking through the possible replacement options (I sent that one back) I note some very similar looking items are miniature copies! The pictures are very carefully edited for scale, including some impossibly tiny hands or just no background at all. Makes you wonder what the ratio is between satisfactory and junk. My gut feeling is there's a LOT of junk out there...

I do use them but if something is wrong hows your Chinese? They sent me the wrong turning insert tips, I told them and they wanted a video to show the problem then offered a partial refund, then they told me to keep them and sent the right ones, the only problem is the time all this messing about took.
