Had a quote for a new bandsaw today. An IMET KS 502

Not even as spec'd as I'd planned = £14k+VAT

So does anyone know of any nice bandsaws that can cut 305mm squarebeams? I need power down feed.

A hydraulic bar feed mechanism would be the icing on the cake. Fighting a 300mm beam to get it bang on the millimetre isn't fun.

I know saws are not cheap, but I was expecting about ⅔ of that price.

Does it need to cut mitres on 305MM or just square cuts? Would this be suitable?

That's only a little bigger than what we have got. Ideally I need to be able to cut 305UC at 45°. which I can just about do on the KS502.

Ah okay, a little too big for anything in the FEMI range. Have you tried addison saws?

Yes that's who I've had the quote from, only took them a week

Will your Imet not cut them if you take off the jaw plates? I am sure I have cut 300mm or so on mine. Then again it may struggle with the height as it has always been only 30 or so thick.

It's the bow that isn't big enough I'm afraid. The job fits in the jaws.

The only other people I can recommend is Prosaw. We've dealt with them a few times for re-sale enquries and i've only ever had stellar service from them. We've only ever sold their BOMAR branded stuff and the customers who've had them love them. They might be worth a shout?

Prosaw are our saw guys, they're brilliant. They'll sell you a £20k+ saw if that's what you need, but it isn't... Having said that, swivel head and large capacity equals huge price... Been trying to find one I like for work for a while now.
Bison machinery have been really helpful to talk to also, and also West Point in Manchester.
How many 45 deg beams of that size do you expect to cut? Just as easy to get the stockholders to do it...
