You can't guillotine a semicircle!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got one from Machine Mart, not that impressed with it, blade keeps tracking off the pulleys under any kind of heavyish load.

********** - when you say 'cut odd shapes' do you mean out of sheet/plate (i.e. you'll need a vertical bandsaw) or do you mean odd profiles of lengths like domed handrail and stuff (i.e. horizontal bandsaw)???
Are you looking for a combo horizontal / vertical machine?
Have you considered a throatless shear for cutting odd shapes from sheet?
What is your budget?

i need to make some mountings for some round section for something a friend is working on.
also needs some odd shape brackets making for his project.
sorry i cant be more specific but he as designed something that if he can get it right he is hoping to take it on dragons den, so he wont let me give to much away.

Seriously, that was really useless.
You don't need to give away *anything* in order to describe what kind of cuts you need to make or what tool you're looking for.
So, if you actually want some help, you need to answer the questions I posted above. Its got nothing to do with details of what you're building.
What MATERIALS are you trying to cut? We still don't know if you are looking at horizontal or vertical. '...odd shaped brackets...' is not a useful description!
On the budget - is the 400 the total price from which you need to buy materials and tools, or what?

Have you tried using a different blade ? Had the same problem with mine recently but swapping out for a different blade was an instant fix.
As a point of interest the problem blade was a Starrett one which is generally regarded as an upgrade to the cheapy 5 for a tenner jobs.
To answer the OP I can recommend the Axminster swivel bandsaw, will need a bit of fettling if you want to use it vertically though.
