bandsaw advice please?

i've been looking into bandsaws. Has any got any comments on the sip bandsaw. I want to spend money on a decent saw that will cut square?

Personally, I wouldn't spend any money on Sip tools. What is your budget? There are often horiz bandsaws on ebay (proper ones).

Hi Barry, yes I have a baileigh double mitring bandsaw. I can't remember the model off my head, it was about 2k.

I had some concerns about the quality initially, the sheetmetal stand etc had some pretty feeble tolerances. Baileigh didn't care, which annoyed me. But having used it quite a bit for a year I can honestly say I rate it.

Just keeps cutting good and straight, easy to use controls, decent power / noise / vibes, good coolant pump/system, good capacity.

Its not the highest quality tool I've ever seen, but neither was it megabucks, nor does anyone(?) make proper old school quality tools any more.

I don't have any experience of the SIP model you mention, but I'd buy another Baileigh if I had to get another saw - either that or I'd look at something even heavier/more spendy (either used or new). I absolutely wouldn't buy a SIP, but thats just me.

I wouldn't normally buy SIP (certainly not their welders) but I've had an SIP badged 12" bandsaw for about 10 years and it has cut tonnes of material from 250 x 12 flat MS to small hollow stainless sections. Looking a bit worse for wear now but still cuts square. I use 8/12 variable pitch blades, taking care on thin sections. W/A
