I see your point and as you say we some times accept rubbish when at the end off the day just because its cheap doesn't give the supplier an excuse for it not to work or be of a lesser quality. The issue many of us have is we are on a tight budget so have to sometimes settle for lesser brands, they should still work but possibly not as long lasting as some of the others.
I assuem he now has his refund and is looking for another machine?
Have you tried Homeworkshop? place a wanted and you should find one

I'm not sure I understand the mentality. Let's all defend the people who are ripping us off.

Carl I don't defend anyone that's ripping us off. I despise that but it seems to me like your far from been ripped off.
These things take time and it's frustrating but your getting your money back.
Give em a call Monday tell em it's taking too long and to push it through. Now I've had refunds before and 5-7 working days is quite often the lead time.
Are you sure it's not you in this situation? You seem awfully passionate about your brothers situation. Don't get me wrong It's annoying but I'd be inclined to just let my brother handle it.

I'm perfectly sure it's not me my friend. I'm very passionate about members of my family being messed about. In addition, if I have a grievance then I sort it out myself. I don't hide behind other people in order to do so.

I am letting my brother handle it, of which he is more than capable. I'm posting here about it as I think that most of us are potential customers of such firms and need to know about these issues.


Not ripped off you contend? I'm sorry. £1000 is a lot of money to anyone. I'm afraid that the company he gave his money to boxed up a piece of kit that they knew full well was not up to standard. He gave them ample time to sort this out but they repeatedly failed to do so.

There is currently a thread on the ME website about a guy who bought a Wabeco lathe only to find the bed was made of some very inferior soft material. It scratched and dented just by looking at it. So these quality issues are rife and people are getting ripped off all the time by these companies.

Thanks for your comments Winchman. He hasnt had his refund yet. I think he is going to go with Warco.

I got most of my machinery from Quillstar.
