Got a shot at a Axminster CQ6230B lathe I think it might just be badged for Axminster, this one is dar from perfect due to bad storage but it's single phase and Has a few bits with it.
Generic far eastern machine. Chester warco etc geared head machines. In good nick they will do a jib for you and come normally with all the extras missing in olderBritish machinesGot a shot at a Axminster CQ6230B lathe I think it might just be badged for Axminster, this one is dar from perfect due to bad storage but it's single phase and Has a few bits with it.View attachment 494147
I can see various tooling by it in another cabinet so I need to take a few boxes and sort out what is with itAt under £200 it's got to be worth a punt. You can learn a lot about how it works on the journey to getting it fettled.
@addjunkie and @MattF it will be dirt cheap "sub 200" and I just need a lathe to learn on so I think it's an OK deal
At that miney Im inclined to agree, get it bought.You can't really go wrong then, especially if there's tooling with it.

to some even bigger mugDefinately. DRO on it as well.
Buy it, polish it up and get it going and sell it for a grand..

Moving and lifting very different unless you have a ramp. Or a tail liftIt's coming home, 2.of usmanaged to move it near the door on 2 tubes I think.it is about 350kg but the should be 6 of us on Sunday.
Mine arrived on a hiab lorry. Offloaded on to a sheet of ply through my shed door. Then skates into position. 20 minutes Hiab lorry was away.Lucky neighbor has fork lift.
But I have used wrecking bar and wood blocks/planks
Found all the bits @addjunkie
Give it a service, change oils, check all bits under end cover
Lifting it into you shed/garage/lean to is the hardest bit, unless it it flat and easy access.It's coming home, 2.of usmanaged to move it near the door on 2 tubes I think.it is about 350kg but the should be 6 of us on Sunday.
Thanks I will grab a manual and have a readWorth noting (if you didn't know already) Grizzly in the US sell the far eastern generic lathes under their own brand name. Yours looks like this one;
www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-12-x-36-gunsmithing-metal-lathe/g0750g
though there are several very similar, just different lengths and swings.
They have an online library of manuals if you need one. They tend to be more detailed than the Chester/Warco offerings for the same machine.
They are a free download.
Here is a link to the manual;
