On my course, this along with a lot of other information was given to me, i will certainly try to remember it all! but this chart helps a lot with us less experienced ones
when it comes to reading electrode codes.
Hope you can see it clearly. Its a page from a book from lincoln electric that gives all information on which rods to use for which job, method, drag, dig etc. Very informative!

I remember working with PVC pipe a few years ago, all made by ametek or sears, all U.S. made, all imperial. (Solvent weld, swimming pool piping) 1/2, 3/4, 1'', 1-1/2'', etc..
