nope single phase! i gave the duty cycle ratings earlier in this post. ive 6mm flex running to it so no drop in power, i wouldnt recomend runnin it at that high a power for 2 long, im feared of burning something out lol

Wozzaaah, depends on the machine. A production 250A unit will run 100% duty cycle at 250A. A high-end industrial unit will run 60% duty.

My CP-250 isa "250A unit" shows the duty cycle go to 60% at 330A. The volt/amp curves go to 400A (if you extend the duty cycle line it would be 40%). I ran it a 200A for a few welds and opened it up. I could not find anything even slightly warm

The Lincoln I had: R3S-325 was 325A/100%. Will go well over 400A. The manual just states 325A/100%, never mention how far it will go

My Airco is 300A unit but has the current dial gos to 475A at 27% duty cycle.

All are old "School-bus-size" welders. Back then, 100% duty rating was the standard. Seems most have played the ratings game and now rate current at low duty cycles. IMO, welders should be classified at 60% duty cycle with a max usable current.

341A? You must have a huge power line to it I assume it is 400V to get that kind of output.

yep the big phillips units are much the same, power sources for robots as well as swfu, so they just state the 100% DC no,s crank em up and they go HOT, come to mention it exacly the same with old kemppi tigs, rated at 300amps but the dial's on the sources all go into the 500s.....

Hmmm theres simlar things going on in the world of HP in construction and ag these days as well, rated HPs and actual HPs in small letters, thats without the tendancy to add an engines torque boost into the figures as well....

its on a 30amp fuse, 30% duty cycle is 250amps, great welder for the money!!

Must be an inverter type, that is more efficient power-wise.

My "250A" beast wants a 75A breaker at 220. The Airco wants a 175A breaker. Both run fine on a 50A breaker for my uses.

Sounds like a real nice machine.

its a standard transformer type mig, we have both the 250amp migs on 30 amp fuses, never blew any yet.

I wasn't aware many modern migs were specced like that, the general way seems to be to call a machine say a 'magimig 200' when it's only say 180A just to make it look more appealing. I know a lot of the bigger tigs are specced using the duty cycle, my dialarc is a 250HF but will go (I think) to 300A. Well it would if only I could use it .

Just an update on this thread.
Emailed Awelco in Italy Monday morning 5 May asking about where to buy, customer support and servicing etc. Needed to know by 7th May, just replied, tough lost sale. There is a distributor in N Ireland who as yet has not replied, emailed at same time.

Hardly bad service considering monday was a holiday. A 3 day response is less than it would have taken via letter. They might have even needed to have it interprited first. Perhapse a phone call might have been better given the urgency.

I guess we are all to used to the "instant" nature of the internet.

Fairly sure it wasnt a bank holiday in Italy and requested they respond by Wednesday making it at least two working days, not untoward its a prospective sale.
Failed so thats that, now a happy Butters owner otherwise would have been a vat free Clark last night.
Companies have to move with the times, often same day response is needed to ascertain a good image. I have sent stuff to NZ in half the time but at least they responded, a good sign. The English was very good.
