ive been trying to find it to put on me new laptop, but the sites i keep finding you have to buy a t shirt or summat like that!!

Have been using AVG for years as well, thanks to a reccomendation from this site.
hey!! what the hell has this got to do with welding?

Then again I have loads of non welding issues sorted out here as well.
In fact my cocky son says ' well ask your welding mates then' whenever we as a family are stuck for info, even wifey asks me the same.

We stopped using AVG and went to Microsoft security essentials, uses less resources as AVG was turning into something that slows everything else down.

Yes I have no put Microsoft security essentials on all my familys computers as the last version of AVG uses a lot of resources and regularly puts up screens saying you have to pay

AVG now makes things work very slowly, as well as being pretty clunky to use. Avast seems to work an awful lot better, and also provides a free edition, with no pay screens etc.

I'm still running AVG here with no slowdown issues. I don't use the link or email scanner though.

Avast and AVG are good free antivirus options. AVG does seem to be more resource hungry, but then if you have a more modern or slightly higher spec PC you wont notice it.

I use Avast and AVG on several different PCs and have no problem with either of them, but I do lean towards avast on my older computers.

Main issue that stopped me using AVG was the nag screens...........didnt seem to eb any way of getting rid of these other than paying?

Same here, swapped AVG for Avast, ran them side by side for a little while to test them both but AVG seemed to miss things that Avast spotted so I got rid of it.

I started with Avast but got fed up of the "nag" screens, so went to AVG been running it on 4 pc's now, also since update to 2011 had no "nag" screens!

Looked at ms security essentials but it has to run with no other anti-virus progs, for some reason I wouldn't trust it

I don't get any nag screens with Avast.
Avira and AVG throw one up every time you boot up and it's updated but I've never had one with Avast.

Sorry, I meant Avira not Avast , still don't get nag screens on AVG running XP or Win7

I may not have had nag screens with AVG, it was actually Avira I used last then switched to Avast.
I found AVG to be very unreliable, I had an obvious rootkit infection but AVG said all was fine.

You can't run two anti virus whatever they are. I run MSE for antivirus and Malwarebytes for (obviously) malware and have no problems.
