'automotive' grade steam cleaners

about to click buy it now on a karcher portable hand helf steam cleaner jobbie, but i am hesitant to do so cos i have been through so many pressure washers from them that fail pretty consistently

anyone any experience with the cheapre ebay specials? they are around 30 quid, look pretty much like a wall paper steamer unit with different nozzles...i have a wall paper steamer and could feasibly make some brass nozzles for it but dont want the wasted time of developing a nozzle that works well.

only ever going to be used for engine bays and car 'detailing'...or a posh wash as i like to call it.

unless the mrs gets her hands on it then it will probably find itself insed the oven as well

We've had a karcher sc3 steam cleaner for years, came from the karcher outlet store, refurbished.
Only time it plays up is when a tiny bit of scale gets trapped in the steam pick up pipe.
Whip the cover off and poke a bit of wire through the hole. Done.

I have a cheap bottom of the range Karcher steam cleaner. It’s decent for cleaning leather upholstery (in the car and home), but doesn’t have the kind of pressure you might want for engine bay cleaning. I tried, and went back to my usual method of brushing with Jizer and then presure-washing with the engine running.

thats what im doing now, wiht various degreasers or cleaners...it doenst need doing often but always nice to work in a clean engine bay...
