automatic strippers, cheapies OK?

was wondering if I should purchase some fine Chinese automatic wire strippers. I usually do the gentle squeeze an yank method. I have just been stripping bit,s of whatever patch lead cable is(28 wag?)
I was thinking of a pair like this

Any good or a total waste of dosh?

I have used the cheep ones.
I gave up and went back to a manule one, even side cutters.

At the start they are ok, but in a few weeks after daily use, they wear out and the quality of the strip changes.

Got a set like that - somewhere in the back of drawer.
Got a couple of sets of a different style I used - one set doesn't quite return automatically, so it gets used for mains twin and earth mostly.
Aldi have some of the same syle at the moment

That's exactly what I use as well - although the auto ones are some unbranded thing I have had for many years but works a treat.

Ditto for me. Had a pair of these CKs for ten years and they're brilliant. No point spending less than the £15 they cost.

I had forgoten about the plier type wire strippers someone put a link to. I have a pair a pair, somewhere. They have
yellow handles so shouldn't be hard to spot, but I can't. But you need to be able to grip/pull on the free bit of wire and in
my experience when the wire is short the insulation pulls off the wire or you don't want to be yanking on the wire.

I figured I would buy the CK lookalikey auto strippers and send them back if they were ****.

The thinner wire I am using is bits of wire from belkin 24AWG patch cable.
The actual size is something like 0.24mm^2, so it's thicker than the packet minimum size claim of .2mm.

The strippers almost do something different each time you try them.
On anything but the weakest detent spring pressure they just cut right through the thin wire.
On the weakest setting it varies from clipping part way though to stripping OKish but also
stripping a bit where the gripping jaw hit. it's really inconsistant so no way could it be used
and it's heading back to ebay land. On thicker wires it strips pretty OKish, but the gripping
jaws take chunks out of the insulation.
