Automatic Boring & Facing Head Questions

Good morning,

been looking to pick up a auto boring head and wondering what make/models can I change the shaft to an R8

Most for sale are int40 and my mill is R8.

Not in a rush however if i know what models can be altered i will be able narrow down my search

My UPA3 came with an MT3 taper, but a shank adaptor to R.8 with suitably solid anchoring systems therein sorted it out nicely....
A bit of tasteful rebuilding and remanufacture of the stops has made it really rather cute....

Does anyone know if the direction of feed is reversible or even if this is a reasonable thing to want to do?
I have Gamet 90. Feed direction not mentioned in its manual. It does have selectable feed rates (2 or 3 IIRC).

Issue i think is going int40 to R8 is there are no adaptors around.

Put the spindle in reverse. or let go of the feed bar/ring to stop the feed.
Very subtle, as you can feather the thing with finger pressure if required....

It is 100% reasonable to want this.

See top of pdf page 7 for the UPA4-7. Not mentioned in the 1-3 manual.

So it might depend on which size your Gamet one mimics.

As the Wohlhaupter has two trip dogs, it is reversible. That might be a good indicator of whether your own has the capability.
